Predestination and Foreordained

God knows those that are His…God doesn’t change He knows all and will always know all….and yet He has also let us choose to name and call on His Son for salvation.

Rom 8:29-30
29 For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified.

2Ti 2:19
19 But God’s firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.”

Eph 1:5-6
5 He predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, 6 to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved.

11 In Him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of His glory.

A Thought a Day

Heb 6:1
Chapter 6
1 Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,

We are to move on to maturity or perfection and leave sin behind..we are to live holy lives…will we be perfect …no….but we are to move in that direction..

Being mature or perfect as in some translation means to live a holy life…..

1Pe 1:13-17
Called to Be Holy
13 Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober- minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” 17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,

What is a holy life first lets see what a unholy life is

Unholy Life
Gal 5:19-21
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Holy Life
Gal 5:22-23
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self- control; against such things there is no law.

How do we live a holy life by crucifying the flesh and being led by the Spirit!!!!!
Gal 5:16-17
Keep in Step with the Spirit
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

If we cut off the Head the body dies!

Colossians 2:19
and not holding fast to the Head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

The whole body is nourished through the head and everything the body does is orchestrated from here. Paul is saying the head is Christ if we are being orchestrated by Him we are doing right, nobody can disqualify us. Christ is our Guide not man made precepts or teachings….not that these are not to be followed but only if they are in line with God’s Word. Rules and wisdom only tell us what to do or not to do but has no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh…Studying the Bible is great but only if done by someone who has accepted Christ and is sealed by the Holy Spirit which happens to be anyone not just a pastor or priest. I’m not saying a non-believer can’t gain anything from the Bible but it is to be understood and studied with the Holy Spirit and prayer.

1 Corinthians 2:10-14
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 11 For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. 13 And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.
14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.
